Gone are the days when organizations use a cookie-cutter approach in developing their employees. Century Leadership University (CLU) was founded on the learning philosophy of individualized and competency-guided learning which leverages on each individual’s strengths and aims to address specific development areas needed to perform their current role or progress further. In the early 2000s, the individual development plan (IDP) was introduced in organizations. As a tool for individualized learning, the IDP has been suggested to be capable of enhancing the structure of a training environment, facilitating better communication between mentees and mentors, aiding in identifying and pursuing career paths, guiding the identification of skills and knowledge gaps, and creating action plans for addressing such gaps. 1

In the same manner, Century Leadership University operates in the philosophy of learning what you need when you need it. Timing is really a valuable key. According to Harvard Business Review, we tend to forget 75% of new information if not applied within 6 days of acquiring it. 2 Simply put, our brains quickly forget what we don’t use. Or as an old, Filipino saying goes, “pasok sa isang tenga, labas sa kabila”. That is why within CLU are different learning pillars, or academies that cater to the varying developmental needs of employees from different levels in the organization.

Management Development Academy

The Management Development Academy (MDA) and Executive Development Academy cater to the first-line, middle, and senior management levels of the organization. This year, we launched the pilot classes of First-Line Management Development Program (FLMDP) and Middle Management Development Program (MMDP) under the umbrella of MDA. The Management Development Academy is designed to be able to provide the fundamentals of management as well as practical tools that will help supervisors, section, and department managers perform their roles as leaders of CPFI. Click here to explore more about the MDA and its curriculum.

Executive Development Program

On the other hand, the  Executive Development Academy delivers custom-built and targeted programs. Early this year, we organized Finance for Commercial Leaders in partnership with the Asian Institute of Management.

Functional/Technical Academies

As an FMCG company, there are critical parts of the organization that carry various functional and technical competencies which are vital not only to operations, but also to the overall success of the organization. Technical Academies include Research & Development, Finance, Supply Chain Logistics, and Information Technology, while Sales and Marketing fall under the Functional Academies. These different sub-academies and their curricula are being managed by their respective Subject Matter Experts and HR Business Partners.

Here are some of the programs of the Functional and Technical Academies.

Building a university, or a learning institute for that matter, is not as simple as  making overnight oats where you mix different ingredients and just let it sit until the next morning, expecting it to bloom and flourish. It entails an iterative process of diagnosing, designing, testing, and evaluating. All the more, we take it upon ourselves the responsibility of looking after the individual holistic growth of our people, ensuring that they unleash their maximum potential, perform to the best of their abilities, and be empowered to yearn for continuous development and be the captain of their own journey. As one of the greatest leaders, Mahatma Gandhi, once said, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever”.

Your growth is our ultimate success.
